HOW TO:

INCREASE YOUR BACKSWING SPEED AND IMPROVE YOUR TEMPO

One of the clearest data findings that we have found, is better players take the club back FASTER.

Why is a Faster Backswing Important?

In our data findings, one of the clearest differentiators between elite players and high handicappers is the speed at which they take the club back.

A slower backswing prevents a player from generating the necessary momentum through transition to maximize their speed and power on the downswing.

TWO EASY WAYS TO SPEED UP YOUR BACKSWING

1. Turn a mid iron upside down, grip just above the head of the club, and swing as fast as you can both back and through. Be careful not to lose your balance/rhythm. You must swing the club fast but
maintain a solid stance and try not to move off your starting

2. Wet your golf towel with water, wrap it onto the end of a mid-iron, and swing. You now have your own make shift weight at the bottom of the golf club. After taking 5-10 swings, with the towel, then take 5-10 swings without it. The club will feel lighter in your hands and will make you swing quicker on the way back.
