We are thrilled to announce the launch of our much-anticipated On-Course Mode! Read below for everything you need to know about this new feature.
What is deWiz On-Course Mode?
deWiz On-Course Mode (OCM), is a groundbreaking new feature that allows users to collect and analyze the same swing analysis they are accustomed to seeing in practice sessions, and compare that data to what they’re doing on the actual golf course.
Bridging the gap between the driving range and the first tee is something that even the best players in the game struggle to do consistently. deWiz OCM is the first swing analyzer of its kind that can accurately and effectively provide this type of swing analysis throughout a whole round of golf.
How does On-Course Mode Work?
Current deWiz users will now notice the “On-Course” Mode is now added to the main Home Screen of the app. When starting a round of golf, simply enter the On-Course Mode, name your session and select “Start Recording”.
From here, there are a few differences that users will experience!
1. When in OCM, the deWiz unit will go into a “Stealth Mode”. Meaning, there will be no green “Ready for Swing” signal on the unit itself, and no tone that comes from the app. However, all of the typical processes that deWiz users are accustomed to going through in the other practice modes will still apply in OCM.
2. The deWiz swing data will not be visible until AFTER the session has been ended (more on this later). You will, however, see the app begin to populate with collected swings where you will have the option to enter in the hole number, club selection and result of the shot (far left, left, center, right, far right). We strongly suggest that you fill this information out as you progress through the round! While you can certainly enter all of this after the round is over, it will be easier to mark everything in real-time.
3. When the round is complete, click “Stop Recording”, and you will then be able to access all of the swing data collected!
AI-Generated Insights
Possibly the most unique new functionality of the On-Course Mode comes once the round is complete. After exiting the OCM, the deWiz app will instantly provide you with generated insights into what happened over the course of the round of golf.
What happened on your good shots? What happened when you missed a few fairways off the tee? By entering the swing information as you go, our AI-engine will be able to pinpoint exactly where your biggest variances in swing data occurred in order for you to better and more efficiently review your round!
can I use On-Course Mode in a tournament?
Yes!
The OCM is approved by the Rules of Golf to be used during official tournament play. In fact, the deWiz OCM has been tested and put into play across all of the various professional golf tours. deWiz is the ONLY wearable swing analyzer that can be used in play governed by official Rules of Golf.
What Happens if I Lose Bluetooth Connection?
We understand that there will likely be times throughout the round that you may lose Bluetooth connection between the deWiz unit and the app.
Because of this, the OCM incorporates an internal memory system where even if you lose Bluetooth connection, swings will be captured and stored internally - and then uploaded to the app upon reconnecting to Bluetooth! This way there is no need to carry your phone with you to every shot.
