Practice and Learn:
Practice Your Length of Backswing
In Length of Backswing mode, users can work to lengthen, shorten or maintain a consistent backswing length. The Length of Backswing data point is defined by the total distance your hands travel from takeaway to transition, measured along the hand path arc.
USING DEWIZ TO LENGTHEN YOUR BACKSWING
In looking at data from millions of swings, we have found that one of the quickest and easiest ways to gain club head speed is by increasing your backswing length. As our friend, Vijay Singh, told us in a previous webinar: “It doesn’t matter how you do it, you just need to swing it longer.”
To work on lengthening your swing using deWiz:
1. Identify your baseline Length of Backswing measurement from your previous practice in Discovery mode or reviewing Your Sessions.
2. Take that baseline Length of Backswing and add 4 inches/10 centimeters.
3. Enter Practice & Learn mode, scroll to Practice Your Length of Backswing and under Practice Goals, set your MINIMUM DISTANCE to that measurement found in Step 2. Make sure MAXIMUM DISTANCE is toggled OFF.
4. Make sure the Learning Stimuli is activated and enter the Practice Your Length of Backswing mode. You will now feel the feedback from the Learning Stimuli if your Length of Backswing does not reach your preset minimum threshold.
USING DEWIZ TO SHORTEN YOUR BACKSWING
While speed and distance are certainly critical in golf, there is also a need for precision and accuracy. A great way to develop a more controlled golf swing is to shorten your backswing. A shorter swing helps to tighten the dispersion of the ball flight by limiting the amount of variables that could go wrong through the backswing.
